suggest an MP3 player

Hey,
i have been walking around with my trusty RIO Karma 20GB MP3 player since 2004 and it has served me well. but i fear its nearing the end of its life span since the battery now only holds for a few hours and doesn't always recharge fully.

the RIO Karma is an amazing device and i'm afraid i wont be able to find anything that comes close to it.
what i'm looking for is an MP3 player (doesn't have to have video) and should have:
- support for MP3 (duh), FLAC & OGG
- programmable equalizer
- around 20GB of storage space
- preferably Mass Storage Device (determines whether you need a special app to access it or its like a USB flash drive)

all the rest is less important like Remote Control, flash card support etc.

got any ideas?

Although I've never used one with >8gb capacity I am a fan of Sony's Walkman MP3 players. I have owned a NWZ-A826 which is excellent and an NWZ-E444 which is cheaper and the quality reflects this. I recently went to the 32gb iPod Touch which is outstanding but can't be used as a USB flash drive (not easily, anyway). Not sure if the Touch supports OGG and FLAC but it's an MP3 player I would recommend for anyone (and I've always actively avoided iPods in the past).

I really enjoy my SanDisk Sansa Clip, although it's not really what you're looking for. Mine is 4 GB and tiny, with a small but brilliant screen. It has great battery life and can be used as a mass storage device. You should maybe look at some of SanDisk's other MP3 players.

I have the original D2 and love it, so the D2+ is a no brainer. Longest battery life put there, SD slot for extra memory, standard mini USB cable, drag and drop... Everything you need. The interface is a little odd, but other than that it's fantastic.

I know there only 4gigs, but I used a Sansa e260 for a while before my Pre replaced it. Woot has them for cheap every so often. It als has micro sd card slot.

The current version is the Clip+, similar but with a micro SD slot. I haven't heard one yet, but I've compared a Clip to a higher-model Fuze, and the Clip sounded better.

Man did this thread bring back memories,I was a rio karma whore in the day and no you will not find a equal replacement in this day and age.

Man what a machine it was,too bad they built them like fords,with cheap exterior parts....:(

I am using my pspgo 32GB as my media machine right now,beautiful screen,small size,does all media even my ebooks and can play real video games and once the hack is released to run ROMS it will be the ultimate device.

VIVA LA KARMA !!!!

What's the battery life like when playing FLAC? I just bought a Fuze primarily due to battery life concerns. I'm only getting about 10 hours playing FLAC using 22 ohm headphones, I think with the Clip I'd lose the ability to use it all day at work.

Someone just bought me a NWZ-s638F and it really is very good.

I was a pretty biased against Sony products but the sound quality on it is really, really good.

Comes with pretty decent earbuds as well.
