Suggest a video card for me......

After reading through this area, I did not really find an answer so, thought I'd just ask.

I recently put together a new system. Currently I'm running the onboard video from my I7 4770. I don't do a lot of gaming, mainly work but, my kids and grandkids (yes, I'm old LOL!) do like to play some games and I've noticed stuttering and lag when they do play some of their games.

As mentioned, I have an I7 4770, 16GB ram, an Asus H87 Plus board and run Samsung SSD's.

I'm not looking for the top of the line, high end solution, just something that will do good. I must have HDMI as I am also connected to my 65" big screen for movies, etc. and run my 27" monitor through DVI since the HDMI would not wake when the system went to sleep through HDMI but does through DVI.....(another thing that stumped me).

Thanks for your assistance!

Ah yes, forgot those pertinent questions.....

I use my monitor @ 1920X1080. The power supply I'm using is a gold series Corsair 450W.

Money is not a real concern, I just don't want, don't need a high end expensive video card for what will be played on this system. I believe I expected a bit to much of the graphics onboard the I7 4770 though.....

For casual gaming, you don't need to be spending over ~$100. HD7770/7790, R260, and GTX650 should be in that price range and provide substantial improvement. If you shop around you might find a 7850/R265 or 650 Ti, which are considerably more capable cards.

GTX650 ~ HD7750 < HD7770 < GTX650 Ti < HD7790/R260 ~ GTX650 Ti Boost < HD7850/R265

Just looking, if this helps, the most demanding games I see that are played are COD and World of Tanks. The rest are pretty much kid games.

I guess what I'm asking, you guys in here know what's out there and what capabilities the cards have.......what would YOU get if you were going to purchase a video card for the systems specs I have and for the type of usage mine will have!

If you do only occasional gaming, a R265/HD7850 at about $110-130 is probably the best value. The next tier of cards are the GTX760 and HD7870/R270, but you'll spend $180-250 for around a 25% improvement over the 265. If you can snag a used HD7950 from the classifieds for ~$200-250, that would be a great value. A lot of coin miners are quitting and selling off their cards for cheap right now.

A 265 is capable of running most new games at 1920x1080 at medium to high with smooth framerates. Games that are a few years old should max out on the 265 with ~60fps (i.e. World of Tanks). Moving up to a 7950 will give you a settings bump to high or highest.

This may help:

EDIT: If not interested in buying secondhand, I'm going to put my vote in for either a 7850/265 or a GTX760, depending on what you feel you need.
