>I have $7-800 to spend

>I want there to be very little delay when taking a picture
I loathe the delay

>A decent optical zoom would be nice

>If it is a DSLR I would like an included lens

>smaller is better but I dont want to sacrifice quality

any suggestions would be apperciated

You can go for the original Canon digital rebel and save a couple of hundred.

IMO at that price point you should be trying for a DSLR.

One thing to watch out for...if you do go for the Digital Rebel XT, just be aware that the had grip is quite small. I would say my hands are on the medium to large side of things and the camera is uncomfortable to me. Even though people say the Nikon D70 is a brick, I like it quite a bit more then the XT just because it feels good in my hands. But hey, that's just me. Go to a store and try 'em all out.

My vote for a DSLR would go to the Nikon D70 or D50.

I'd take a look at the Nikon 8800 and the Sony F828 as well - both 8 MP cameras with excellent lenses.
