Suggest a new case for me

I'm in the market for a new case and unsure of what I want. Last case I had was a Thermaltake Mozart TX.(Random image)

I prefer something that not everyone and their brother has.
Limit is about $300.
I like windows but it's not a requirement.
Gamer so I need room and adequate cooling. Must be at least a mid-tower.
Any suggestions?

Either way. I like them all.

Good start. That is one damn fine case.

Right now, it would be unwise to spend money on unneeded frills unless you're independently wealthy (or have a buyer for your old case already lined up). Case psychosis can trap the best of us... ;-)

New Silverstone Fortress, new Cooler Master ATCS-840. Where do you live that the Mozart is something you're tripping over wherever you go? What's wrong with the Mozart in your hands?

I had the mozart for over a year and just decided it's time for something new. Actually got rid of it a couple months ago and have been using a custom Ultra case that I'm bored with.
To answer your question as to what is wrong with the Mozart...
It was just too much. I had it packed full of lights, fans & bay accessories and I'm an overclocker and a gamer so I was always taking it apart and changing things and it just got to be a full time job. Because I'm a hardware junkie I was neurotic about it and just decided that I needed something more simple for awhile.

Some good ideas sofar.

In my searches I've also found two others that appeal to me a great deal.
Mountain Mods Ufo cases are extremely impressive albeit rather spendy and the HSPC Tech Stations have great appeal to me.

Simplistic is not a synonym for simple or simpler as an adjective, it applies to a very narrow category of targets (inanimate objects are not among them). I updated my earlier post a bit.

Maybe it's too big? :Q I've been to a basement LAN where one guy struggled down his Mozart case, after which he struggled down his 21" CRT.

No thanks.

Perry404, what about a custom painted case? Maybe Smooth Creations will sell you just a case?

P182 Special Edition which has stainless steel aluminum front and side panels polished to a mirror finish. But you really need to replace the stock fans and modify the front grills covering the intakes (noise reduction) for better airflow.

Well, OP didn't say he was taking it to LPs (we could discontinue trying to advise him at that point as crazy people are averse to advice...).

I have the Zalman GS1000 and think its great.

Big case. Lots of nice features. I just added WC to the mix.

Another one to add to the possibility list.

Get something small, get something that doesn't look much more than a computer case, and then forget about it until you need to get a new computer. Honestly, it's a computer case.

What is the purpose of a computer case? Is it to define you as a person, set you apart from the others, show to your parents who really don't care, show to your friends who will think you're mad for spending 200 dollars on a case or is it to just house your components and make sure they don't die of overheating? If it's anything other than the last choice, then you haven't reached a maturity level where you realize a computer is a beggar that is always wanting more change (South Park, anyone?).

Sure, you're a gamer. Okay, so are many of us. I run a mid-tower ATX case just fine. I carry it to LANs every few months or so and have some fun with friends while decreasing my lifespan. It has two case fans, no lights, no window, no bling. Everyone has their LED fans, their CCFLs, their immaculate cable management, massive amounts of airflow and sticks of RAM that flicker with activity. I've had all of those snazzy effects before. After 2 years and much debate, I eventually realized that I am most satisfied with a case that doesn't make much noise, has no lighting except my power and HDD LED and no window. No wiring to worry about, no window to avoid scratching, and the best part? I blended into the darkness while being the most original one there.

I'm not trying to thread-crap or make you feel bad, it's just that maybe you've reached a point where you're growing out of the whole gaming case idea. Make a cold and calculated decision. Cases are something that you should keep for years, not months.

I agree, and I repeat my suggestion of the HAF 932. It's got the best cooling of any case I can think of, is cheap $150ish, and got lots of space and is mostly utilitarian in the looks department.

Those Tech Stations look so neat in the pictures don't they? When actually they are a rats nest of wires and shouldn't even be considered for use in a home setting (particularly if ankle munchers are in the mix. Those are service equipment and offer NO RFI/EMI shielding nor any dust protection for your components. Doesn't even come stock with a grounding bus, so the first thing you have to do is come up with one yourself if you want to insure a really stable system. Good luck....

Good luck when you spill your drink all over it, or your drunk buddy trips on it while watching a movie.

You know I couldn't count how many times I've had my rig exposed over the years. Many years ago before collage I had the motherboard tacked to a piece of plywood because I couldn't afford a case.
When I was in collage at UAF had all my components neatly stacked in a bookshelf above my desk. There have been other circumstances as well.
Any rig can be made to look good you just have to be willing to do the work.

Nice, I like those things!

Oh My! Slick as all get-out!

I wish you'd have never shown me that!

PS...Hey Perry, I'm glad you bought the top loader. When you get tired of it and want to sell, give me a holler. I don't think my back would like the MB on the bottom! :D

Well that totally depends on how well your cable management is.

My main concern would be dust (aside from spilling a drink on it). How do you plan to mitigate this? Hopefully you have a good air filter/ionizer in the room.
