How does it compare to Pan Labyrinth. I really really liked PL but Orphanage seems to be more horror and less fantasy

Don't get the dubbed version. You will want to rip out your eardrums with a fork. Assuming the disc doesn't have the option for original language with subtitles, it is better to wait until you can find one to rent that does.
