i am thinking about switching to ATI. But my budget is very tight. What do you think about ati9200se? please suggest whats best for my current system.

Are you looking for gaming capability, TV-out for home theater, or just good 2D and no real 3D?

For gaming a much better choice would be a used geforce3 (original, ti200, ti500) for about $50 shipped in the FS/FT forum. For $70-100 a used or new geforce4 ti4200.

SE is short for Slow Edition. Below are cards I found from Newegg. These are good for gaming, but aren't pricey.

SAPPHIRE ATI Radeon 9600 - $113

Sapphire Atlantis ATI Radeon 9600 PRO - $148

If these are too rich for you, get a GF4 TI or GF3. Peace.

I wouldnt upgrade unless you went to at least a ti 4200, but I think that 9600 for 113 will be nice for 113.... the 9200se will be slow as poop

Radeon 9200SE is definitely NOT even worth considering from your MSI Geforce 4 MX. Below are some possible worthy upgrades for you in used/new condition price ranges:

$40-$55 - Radeon 8500/9100

$60-$85 - Geforce 4 Ti4200

$100-$110 - Best Buy's FX5600 Ultra deal after MIR

$120-$150 Radeon 9500pro/9600pro

Of course there are other options but these cards are generally regarded as good bang for your buck cards. Good luck in your search.

If your geforce4 mx plays all your games you play now, why not wait a little longer and then upgrade? You're not going to get a budget card right now that plays the next generation games like Doom 3 or HL2 and the GF4MX probably handles current games well enough to bear.
