Please suggest a good game, preferably not an FPS, but a 3rd person which can give my new computer a run for its money. My new PC is:
980X
12GB of DDR3-16000 ram
and
2x Radeon DX 6990s in crossfire
with OCZ RevoDive X2 SSD for storage.

Thanks.

Im not sure there is such a game.... but I know that cpu bottlenecks are probably the biggest factor in limiting gameplay (when you own 2x 6990), so overclock that 980 as much as you can.

Hopefully with a PC like yours you own 3 monitors and are gameing at 5700x1080 ish resolution.

anyways watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2LRhE1ACsQ

look at how thin his bezel is after he opens up his monitors, and takes off the hood, and puts them together again.

Dunno, what type of game do you like? RTS, RPG, action, adventure, puzzles, barbie?

Try Dawn of War 2, not really that demanding but it has nice textures and tactical combat is fun.
Try Civ 5 and yell at your rig of how you got ripped off because each turn takes 30 sec to 2-3 minutes to complete.
Try Two Worlds 2, not the best looking game but it's not to be looked down on.
Try Batman: AA, cool game overall.
Try Just Cause 2, FPS I know but it's fun hooking stuff with your grappling and have a nice open world.
Try Starcraft 2, didn't played yet but heard it's cool.

Oh I know, try any game you want and enjoy, that's what works for me.

civ5 just came out with a patch, ibt time has been dropped immensely, memory leaks fixed, etc etc.

@OP: go look at actual game reviews, whichever games do the best job of bringing current hardware to its knees are the games for you to get. btw, 2 x 6990 is actually "quadfire", and we all secretly hate you for having such a great rig and not giving us any pics. ;)

Sounds like BS to me, I cant imagine someone actually buying two 6990's and not having a game in mind to play.

Im gonna suggest Battlefield 3, buy that when it comes out.

why?

because from the looks of it, its clearly the best graphics of its time.
And you have monster powerfull GPUs (6990x2 = 6970x4).

The only thing that "could" be faster would be 580 x4, and Im not even sure if with their scaleing (at 4 cards SLI) their faster than 2x6990.

Yes, just because you have 6C/12T doesn't mean a game will use them. They all love higher clocks though.

Not to threadcrap, but you DO realize that there's a forum category for this, right?

I'm saying only because you can get more responses to the related topic there - not because I want to threadcrap. No, really.

Pics will be posted when it is all assembled, i just got the cards in this morning, still waiting for a 450 watt booster for my PSU, I am afraid 1000watt will not cut it, since 2 cards suck up 900W.

Basically I like games like WoW, I dont mind FPS but dont enjoy them as much as WoW. MaxPane (original), MoHAA were fun as hell when they came out.

Really liked Diablo2 LoD, back in the day....

Now looking for someting with "progression" like wow or D2, but good grafix and not a grinder like wow raiding is...

The reason for the OP (over powered , not original poster) PC is not to play a particular game, which seems to be the reason for 99% of people, but rather to be able to play ANY game i feel like in the next 3 years while also donating proccessing power to BOINC project. I am actually a nuclear engineer in RL, so running Milkyway@Home makes me feel good about myself...

If you are just trying to give it a run for its money...
Try crysis. Your machine will be able to max it on a SINGLE 2D 60Hz monitor. But not on multi monitors or with 3D enabled.

Planescape: Torment is not a FPS and is third-person view. Annah and Fall-From-Grace
I  Annah and Fall-From-Grace :p

Most of my games are lots of fun but graphically cheap:
Ur Quan Masters
Recettear
Planescape torment
Monkey island series
Temple of Elemental Evil (with circle of eight mod pack)
Kingdom of Loathing
Twilight Heroes
Billy vs Snakeman
KOTOR
Jade Empire

However, there are some games that are at least semi intensive (and by that I mean that they need a 3D card, of the low end) that I find to be good:
Mass Effect (1 and 2)
Batman Arkham Asylum
Starcraft 2
Mafia 2
Prototype
Assassin Creed

I hope you arent talking about a minipower supply. Check hardocp they have a review of one that is 350w i think and it almost caught fire during testing.

I will be using:
FSP Booster X5 450 WATT Power Supply SLI Certified.

I will useit at 300 watts to give 2x 150W lanes to cards; the rest of 600W will come from my 1000W PSU.
