Bump.

Also gsellis, I don't understand your post.
Snakexor, if you were answering me (?), I was of course referring to video only.

Sony video cameras use the Sony Memory Sticks. No SD, CF or any other memory you might have. They use it for stills.

I think you should look at reviews on still info. Using a mini DV for stills is pretty pointless. At best you're looking at 2 megapixels, in most cases it's 1 megapixel.

Please say who you're replying to (or use quotes). niggles, if you're talking to me, I never said anything about wanting a camera for stills.

When you started discussing memory cards, it was implied. Some upscale cameras can keep user settings on a card (Electronic News Gathering) and some newer ENG cameras can save to P2 memory cards (4GB = 9minutes of HD). That is why the topic drifted to not using a video camera for stills.

How about a Panasonic PV-GS65. It is the cheapest 3CCD camera. You may can find it used for around $300. I am looking at getting one. Anyone have anything bad to say about it?

Sorry, I didn't know about these things or I would have made it clear that I was asking about ones that can save video to CF/SD. 🙂

So how about the PV-GS65 CU asked about?

Actually, to correct a statement I made earlier, the labs I work in check out the PV-GS65 and not the 150 (model numbers/names are so damn annoying in consumer electronics). It's an excellent camera for the price.

Ah! Those cameras that do use it have really small pictures with low resolution. Good for web video, but not to transfer to disc for playing on a TV.

Best Buy has a JVC GRD250US with "NightAlive low light recording" for $300. And a GRD270US for $330. Any good?
Also a Canon ZR200 for $350.
