Hi,

I have an old system, whose spec is:
* VIA P4M266A/VT8235 chipset Mother Board
* Intel 3.3 Ghz proc
* 1 GB DDR1 RAM
Slots
* 1 x AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) 4X slot
* 3 x PCI 2.2 32-bit PCI bus slots (supports 3.3v/5v PCI bus interface)

I want to gift this to my brother's kid.Kindly suggest a budget graphics card to play NFS, and similar games.

Thanks
Bhuvan

The best i can suggest are some of the older radeon 4600 series agp cards like 4650 or 4670 512mb.With your old rig there are not much more options

Also see if you can add another gig of ram. That would go a long way as well.

there is no absolutely point in buying a gpu to put with an archaic P4 and 1gb of ram. you will not meet the minimum requirements to play NFS or any other remotely modern game. and btw I have never heard of a P4 at 3.3.

The fastest AGP cards are the Radeon 3850, and Radeon 4650/4670, but the 4650 is the one you will most likely be able to find. I've got a Radeon HD4650 AGP 1Gb DDR2. I don't have NFS but it has played through Crysis.

again no point in getting a gpu when the rest of the system is not suitable for the games you want to play.

What version of NFS does he want to play? If its a modern one, then yeah the rest of the system might not be capable enough.

Better to sell what he has even for pennies, add some money and buy modern budget PC. Something like Athlon X4 750 or Celeron G1610 if budget is smaller and Radeon 7750 GDDR5. It can be done for 250-300$ / 250-300 euro depending on where you live.
I know sometimes such amount is big and is not an option, just saying if it is an option then it may be wise to wait, save some money instead of going with P4+DDR1+AGP set-up.

I'd go in the classifieds and check for something in there instead of buying something new. There should be more than enough choice

you might be able to play NFS Most Wanted from 2005/2006 well, but for newer NFS even the fastest AGP card is not going to make it run well with a P4.

so if you want to play old NFS, any Geforce 6/Radeon X800 should be great...
