Building a new pc for few things playing games, graphics design . Cann't decide between P4C or E or Amd 64. Read few reviews on anandtech didn't helped me that much. Any sugestions on chip, board , what type of mem( I would like to have a 1GB ).

well i guess price isn't too high of a concern for you ?
if this is the case then I would suggest going all out and getting the athlon64 with a gig of pc4400 (pretty much any brand) and the nf3 chipset (think that's still the best) the Prescott dissapointed many because of it's performance compared to the northwood
but if you do go the P4 route i would suggest getting the i875 chipset

the thing is tho that both the intel and amd platforms will soon see some new sockets so i dunno if you would want to wait or not

anyone else got any ideas for willbemcse ??

I'm assuming because they haven't come out with PC4600 yet.:D Actually, will, if you decide to go the P4 route, get a P4C, not an E. And, with P4's, latency is much more important than speed, because the P4's perform extremely well, using memory dividers. With the Athlons, however, latency means nothing, compared to memory speed, so fast ram is a very good thing, although PC4400 would definitely be overkill for any Athlon. PC3500 or PC3700 is the fastest you can take advantage of, with the Athlons.

I would like to build a P4 not Amd looked at the prices for A64 kind of over my budget . I can wait couple of more weeks dont know/think if it will be worthwhile to wait for the new socket . Whats a good board/Memory type for P4. I want to have some room to overclock .

Some of the athlon 64's may drop a little in price on Feb 15th. For p4 motherboards, the abit is7 or ic7 will overclock nicely.
