Suge Knight Shot at Miami Beach Party
Aug 28 2:23 AM US/Eastern

Associated Press Writer

MIAMI BEACH, Fla.

Rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was shot in the leg early Sunday during a party hosted by Grammy-winning hip hop artist Kanye West, police said.

Knight, 40, was hospitalized in good condition, police said. He was shot during a celebrity-studded party at the Shore Club, part of a celebration of the MTV Video Music Awards scheduled for Sunday night, said Miami Beach Police Officer Bobby Hernandez.

Sonja Mauro, a guest at the club, said a shot in the party's VIP section rang out shortly before 1 a.m.

"I was in there and I heard a pop and I ran out and got trampled," she said.

People attending the party began screaming and running for the doors, she said.

Knight co-founded the pioneering rap label Death Row Records and hit the charts in the 1990s with West Coast stars including Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur.

The label struggled when Knight was sent to prison for assault and weapons violations. He was released in 2001, then served 10 more months for violating parole and striking a Hollywood nightclub valet. Relatives of slain rapper Notorious B.I.G. have also accused him of involvement in his death, though police have never named Knight as a suspect.

Knight continues to operate his label, now called Tha Row.

Why does this kind of crap only happen at Rap funcitons? No other celebrity get-togethers tend to result in someone getting shot. I guess you just can't take the ghetto out of the.......

I'd agree with you but this wasn't a rap function, it was a party for the MTV Video Music Awards, where pretty much all of the popular genres are represented.

"And in other news intel corporate vice president was shot repedatly. He seems to have sustained injuries to he has and lower arms. The attacker drove away in a black van with a 64 sticker on the side. AMD spokesperson had no comment."

LoL imagine that one happening!

Totally agreed. But I seem to remember a well-known metal band's former guitarist getting gunned down a few months back at a club in Ohio, so to say its only at rap functions isn't being totally truthful.

Even if your snipet is true look at the overall statistics and Rap's long history of violence and degradation. It is endemic to Rap's culture whereas it is an anomoly in the rest of the music industry.

Wow, I left Kanye's party half an hour before the shooting. Didn't find out about it until they mentioned it on Headline News while I was at the airport today.

"He seems to have sustained injuries to he has and lower arms." WTF? I can't imagine that one happening. Sorry.

As for Suge Knight, I'm sorry he's still alive. Yes, I can say that with no regret.

That's because in Rock they are too busy shooting themselves in the head and beating their wives to go out and shoot other people.
