NEVERMIND. I think re-installing the drivers fixed it.
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H
Windows Vista Ultimate.
Was working fine, then I decided (like an idiot) to move the computer upstairs.
Did not have speakers hooked up for a few days. In that time, I:
1) Installed Windows Vista SP2 (after a few failed attempts)
2) Installed a few "Windows Defender" updates
3) A few other updates
4) Installed "Windows PowerShell 1.0"
5) Installed a Belkin Wireless NIC
6) Had problems w/ the NIC, so I removed my ATI HDTV Wonder PCI card and swapped the NIC to that PCI slot (which fixed the problem)
When I hooked up the speakers today, they suddenly don't work. I tested them on an MP3 player, and they work fine. I tried other speakers, same result (MP3 player - yes, computer - no).
The volume is not muted in the system tray. I run the "Sound" applet and it *think* it's playing the sounds, but I hear nothing. The volume is up on the actual speakers.
I reinstalled the motherboard sound drivers. No difference.
I think it is a RealTek.
Banging my head on the wall here. Did it suddenly go bad? Help.
Please.
