didn't really do anything but add a UPS monitoring program for my new UPS and some windows updates today. i went to defrag and i see a big chunk of unmoveable files on my OS partition, which doesn't have a page file on it. nor a recyle bin.

i can't find it, nothing amounts top that size and i checked "show hidden system files". it is a fairly new install so the total size was about 3, now its just over 4 gb.

i ran WD diagnostic progie and it shows the disk healthy and the files don't exist, as the size of the partiiton is really 3gbs so it's like a swap file or something, but like i said, i have that on the next partition.

ran adaware, spybot, ccleaner, antiVir, all up to date and nothing.

what is this thing?

edit--i forgot when i was downloading the windows update, i did re-boot before installing, but when windows came back up it asked if i wanted to install the downloads. so i think that was complete, could it just be that it had some chenk of real estate there for the download/install and now its just hanging there?

i haven't seen it in any of the other defrags, so it took me by surprise. why is it just now?

Are the other volumes fat? The MFT is part of NTFS (or did you mean prior defags didn't show it on the same volume?)

all the partions are ntfs. i have never seen it on the OS partition in previous defrags, only the next partition which is set aside for the page. i set aside 5 gigs for paging, is it possible it just needed more and spilled into another partition?
