Suddenly flaky video

Recently my video playback has been screwing up. When using DVDs or playing files from my hard drive they play slowly, the sound is distorted and now some files won't even play. Figuring something in Zoom Player or the codecs had gotten corrupted, I reinstalled everything from a disk image, but that didn't solve the problem.

Because of that, I'm assuming it's some sort of hardware problem, but don't know what. Anyone have any ideas about what may be wrong?

If you have an nVidia 6- or 7-series video card, you need to remove the driver, and reinstall an older one.

I have a GeForce 6500 card and everything worked well for months, that's why I used the disk image to 'reset' everything.
