Sudden shutdowns

I recently moved, requiring a boxing up of the computer. Since the move, the computer will suddenly shut off, and I mean off, *blink* all is dark. Like the power has been pulled. I have my suspicions but what are the typical subjects to check?

It can't be the power in this place, since the monitor stays on, as does the other computer.

CPU overheat comes to mind. How that might've happened, is if the heatsink retainer broke a claw (happens to Pentium4 systems, is this a P4?).

I'd be tempted to agree with mechBgon here, sounds like the heatsink's slipped in transit. Remove/re-apply thermal paste and re-mount
