The latest is, he changed the memory settings and that didnt have any effect... it still did it. but get this...
I asked if he had installed anything before it started happening, and he said no... but he eventually got around to telling me that he installed AOL, and that so far he figured out that it only happened when he was on AOL (the word problem he says? he was on AOL at the same time)

I dont know why, but i said to try uninstalling AOL and he hasnt complained since.

Does 2000 have an event viewer like XP? Could check it after a reboot. Is there a startup recovery option under advanced system options? Uncheck the automatically restart
if available.

I've got an Epox 8K5A3+ MB that comes with the optional "auto-reboot" also.
* I've swapped PS
* I've underclocked
* I've swapped memory
* I've swapped CPUs
* I've swapped UPS
* I've updated Windows
* I've updated drivers
* Cooling isn't an issue
* Now I've swapped over to a PIV ;)

I will play with the Epox MB to track down exactly what the deal is, now that it's out of my case.
