Sucking and Holding System Resources

I've finally been able to isolate my problem to my McAfee VirusScan program. It is somehow sucking up and holding onto my system resources as I work through the day. :disgust: Even with 256mb RAM I have to reboot at least 2x a day. When I get resources low message I shut down every single running program including the McAfee and don't gain more than maybe 20% back. :| Anyone have similar experience and more importantly a fix for this? 😕
Thanks in advance, 🙂

Shot in the dark, because I have no idea, but could it be the version (or scan engine version) of McAfee that you're using? I've never heard of any kind of problem like this with McAfee before though. Maybe try updating it?

I've heard of many stories like that with McAfee's stuff. Same with Norton's only not quite as bad. The fix is to disable that junk or better yet uninstall it.
