my dad, whos been doing carpentry work for a good 25 years, helped me add on to my shed last week
today, he helped me get the shingles started on the roof (because...i dont know anything about any of this sort of thing)
so i get done with the shingles, and i have about 4 rows that look good, 2 more rows that just have one or two slightly out of place...and then it quickly degrades from there, into a mess that looked like a 9 year old did it while hopped up on caffeine
in addition, i suck at painting (yes, very badly) building anything whatsoever, cutting with a saw, and hammering nails (this lack of skill did not help with the shingles today) and, being the moron i am, it took me far too long to fix the toilet the other day
oh, and another question: when putting shingles on a roof that meets another roof, do you just lift up the old shingles and let it overlap the new ones....or do you need some flashing or something else? im not sure if that question is clear enough...my dad never did much roofing so he wasnt sure, and his buddy who does roofing is out of town or something for a day or two
