thanks big time I will use the .09 version just to be sure.

These people are saying that you can mod the card to xt but a few days later they just die..no warning or anything just die.
I personally don't believe it but they are doing a lot of posting about it. Like you said I bought a $200 card...if it works great
if not ok.. IF it dies its my fault but I don't believe that all of the modded cards are failing after a few days.

thanks again for the info

now if I could only get a 1800xt 512 crossfire card for $220 to go with it LOL

Well I started to have random lock ups in games with my card flashed to xt bios running at 650/702.......I tried everything to get it stable, even flashed back to the original xl bios and it still locked up.

So i was running a 3dmark05 bench and i noticed it locked up during the CPU test. This made me to believe that my ram was the culprit cause i have it running at max. So i downclocked the ram and still got lock ups. Then i realized i was testing my CPU overclock to see how stable i could get it on lowest possible voltage....well i never really got the chance to complete a good run of Prime95. Anyways i bumped voltage up .025 and viola.....no more lock ups.

Then i decided to test my overclock on my x1800 card. I am now running stable with a modded xl bios (used rabit 2.1) at 650/650 and i scored 8400 in 3dmark05 with core voltage set to 1.3. Now i have the bios modded for those speeds and i dont have to run ATI tool at all to keep them. I havent tried to flash to the XT speeds because i noticed a huge performance jump by leaving the memory with the tight timings the xl bios provides. I may try to flash to XT just to see what she'll run but so far i can play Oblivion at 1024x768 Ultra high quality all sliders to 90% and only notice lag while in the cities where there are alot of people (very minimal lag). Overall its been great and has maximized my gaming experiences thus far.

Futhermore, I adjusted the fan speeds in the modded bios to 60% and its barely audible. It only gets loud upon boot up and thats just for a couple seconds.
