This is great, I hope they have more successes, they won a NASA contract to resupply the ISS, would be much better to rely on them rather than the Russians during the time after the shuttle retires and before Orion starts up. I know a friend working there, he likes it, lots of energy at the place. I visited them last year, its built like a startup, no one has offices, not even Elon.

successful SpaceX launch

Yes, as long as they have a good safety record and prove themselves reliable, why not? The Soyuz while reliable, have had some issues recently.

Falcon 1 is not man rated. Falcon 9 is when equipped with the pressurized Dragon vehicle.

Why don't you do a little research before talking about something you know nothing about.

Damn Soyuz has been around ~30 years, has its own rocket system, and is on its 4th+ generation.

Apparently there were two fatal accidents - 1967 and 1971.

If reliability were the only issue I'd go up/down on a Soyuz.

Soyuz is highly reliable. But I have no problem flying on the Falcon 9 if I had the opportunity.

OK I did some research and it told me to pay no attention to people telling me to do research because nobody ever does research who already think they know everything, that the advise is totally useless and will always fall on deaf ears. That, of course raises the important question as to why I'm telling you to follow your own advise since you clearly will see no need.

Of course.

30? Try 45 years, and it is based on same R7 design that put Sputnik into space, so effectively it's pushing 50 years. Amazing how well designed things were back then, B52s still flying too.
I don't know if I trust Elon Musk to not cut corners. Time will tell, but he seems like an egomaniac.

Everyone does realize Soyuz is the spacecraft while the launch vehicle is typically the R7m which has been around since the 1950s in one variant or another? In fact, the R7 was the USSR's first ICBM, and not very good actually.

So in regards to the OP, the Falcon 1 would be equivalent to the R7 while Soyuz would be equivalent to the Dragon.

To further clarify and by way of example, the Apollo missions flew on a Saturn V launch vehicle while the spacecraft was designated Apollo.

Comparing Soyuz to Falcon 1 is inaccurate.
