Success with the K7V and T-bird?

I am considering buying a Slot A 700MHz or 800MHz T-bird for my Asus K7V motherboard.

This board is not the K7V-T. What would be the expected success rate for my board? I heard it is about 50%. Are there any bios settings I could do help things out?

What in fact are the difference between the K7V and K7V-T?

I need to make the purchase in a couple of hours. Any info would be very helpful.
