Success rate of converting 9800 Non-Pro to Pro

What is the success rate of converting any Radeon 9800 Non-Pro 128MB to a Pro 128MB?

Also, are extra heatsinks REQUIRED or any additional cooling required?

I want a card that's reliable above other things.

Do I simply using FlashROM w/ the 98-8004.bin to update the Non-Pro BIOS?

- not sure, but its pretty high, i say around 95%. have only seen 2 unsuccessful and seen hundreds of successful on anandtech and rage3d forums.

- additional cooling depends on the type of ram the 9800np uses, if its samsung, most likely no, but if its infineion, either underclock it by a little or use additional cooling.

- you just simply use FlashRom w/ the 98-8004.bin to update the Non-Pro BIOS.

get a sapphire 9800np if possible (it'll be hard to find now, but it is still possible). Avoid the ATI Retail non pro. Good Luck

I don't know a rate or % but I believe it's fairly high. My Sapphire non-pro with 3.3v Samsung memory took the flash without any problems. Have a look over at the Rage3D forums. There's a step-by-step procedure that's got all the info you need. Good luck! 😀
