Success rate of 9500np to 9700

I'm thinking about upgrading my graphics card, and I'm looking at getting a 9500np with the L shaped ram off Ebay. My question is what are the chances of the softmod to a 9700np with the different drivers not working, aka artifacts due to broken pipelines? And if it doesnt work and I just have to put it back to a normal 9500np, how would that performance compare to a 9600pro?

if your getting it off ebay 9 times out of 10 thier people who bought them and failed at softmoding them so thier selling them.

stock performance is a bit less than a 9600pro. with mine clocked at 380/320 I get 3dmark scores comparable to a 9600xt.

mine softmod was a half succsess works fine in some games at 16bit others it checkerboards.

If I were you though I would get a 9700 you should be able to find one in the 150-170 range. its not worth the hassel paying 120 for a slim chance at getting a moddable one.

Buying Softmodable things on Ebay is just throwing your money away. They are guaranteed dead pipelines, and idiots out there bid up even PAST a 9700NP price.

Just buy a 9700 NP/P on Ebay, or better yet, a 9800NP. Just watched one go for 132.50 + shipping (10 bucks i think)

You should try the 9800se rather than the 9500np for this operation. It seems like its success rate is a little higher.
