success of geforce mx to quadro mx

how successful have people been in hacking geforce mxes into quadros? any boards to reccomend? What soldering tools do you need?

i've heard the mod can have great benefits, but i wanted to know how hard it actually is and how often people screw it up.
i've read some other threads and i think i'm gonna get one and try it

Well I haven't done a geforce mx to quadro mx, but I have done a Geforce 2 GTS to Quadro 2 Pro mod. It wasn't that difficult, but if it's your first time using a soldering iron I would highly suggest you practice on something that you don't really care about(an old video, or sound card perhaps).

thanks smbu, i would do the gts, burt i'm looking for something cheap but fast for my little bro's computer, then when i build my new system, i'll probably get an NV20 instead(hopefully those will be hackable too) i willo take your advise on trying on an old board though, i have some sitting around and that makes sense. i've done some soldering, but nothing this small. what soldering iron should i get?
