Subwoofer seems dead, need help

The speakers work, but the sub does not. It only makes sound when you are turning the knob for the bass, but it is a bunch of static that goes up and down in volume. All my cables seem to be fine. It is connected to a surge protector, but I will say I have a room a/c that is 10,000 BTU and makes the lights in my room dim. Is the AC damaging everything else with the power surges coming from the compressor? Just a random thought. Appreciate any help!

sounds like you probably either have a blown subwoofer or a bad connection from the control pod. I have the Z-560's, and there's often static when I use the fader button but not the bass control.

Mine are three years old, so if this happened to me I'd probably open up the sub and see if there's anything loose or obviously fixable.

good luck
