So I'm upgrading the subwoofer in my car to something a little nicer. As you can imagine, there aren't too many people in the city of Fargo that will spend several hundred on a quality driver. I'm currently eyeing a JL 13W6 for my car and was at the dealer last night looking around and getting some prices. When I was looking around, I noticed the date on the speaker boxes say "Date of Manufacture: 09/2005". The model numbers are the same on the JL website, so I'm sure it's the same version, but just a couple years old.

Would you, as a consumer, be concerned about the life of the speaker? I know that speakers, when taken care of, will last a long time. Am I being too anal retentive? I just want to be sure that the speaker I buy will sound great and last a long time.

Just was curious about others' input. :)

Thanks!

I used to deal with stolen car audio. Other than the cut cables hanging off the items they still sounded the same as new.

Deal with stolen audio? Eesh...are you a cop? :)

That's kinda what I figured. I'll still get a 2 year warranty through the company I'm buying from...by then, I'll likely want something new again!

I currently have a 12W3v2 and it is just flipping amazing, but the oomph kind of peters out at higher volumes. I'm a big SQL guy, but I like my music loud, but don't have the room for multiple subwoofers. Plus, I figure if the 13W6 can't handle my needs, I likely have the music too loud anyways. :D

Thanks for the reply.
