subwoofer auto on/off

I have an old Sony SA-W10. Is there any way to add auto on/off to it? Hitting the power button every time just isn't that fun. Also how does it compare to new subs in the $100 range? What would it be worth at a yard sale? Thanks.

With a maximum power consumption of 30W I wouldn't even bother turning it off. Sitting idle it probably pulls at most a couple watts from the wall.

My guess would be its worth somewhere in the $20-40 mark.

The easiest way to do this would be with a smart strip. Plug your receiver into the control outlet (or whatever it's called) and your sub into another outlet. When you turn your receiver on, your sub turns on. When you turn your receiver off, your sub turns off.

This assumes your sub has a hard power switch.
