Subtle racism in strange places

So I was watching this weird cartoon with my younger sister (she's 6) and my mom walked by, remarking about how racist the cartoon was. It's a bunch of farm animals, so naturally I was curious as to what she meant. When I asked, she divulged into how the brown cow spoke like a Southern black woman and the while cow spoke like a man from Brooklyn. Personally I noticed that the rat character spoke like a Mexican...

I found this particular example of public "racism" rather funny, because it's a children's cartoon. But it made me wonder, do people see subtle hunts of racism in other places? If so, where?

in the simpsons, itchy is gray/white and scratchy is always black. itchy always kills scratchy. must be subtle messages saying to kill black people! :disgust:

It has nothing to do with being paranoid, it's just amusing. Just wanted to see if anyone else picks up stuff like that. ;)

Apparently Tom and Jerry used to be racist. As well as some other Hanna Barbera cartoons.

Cartoons are a covert method for the government to instill racism and hatred in our youth.

A friendly female black co-worker remarked this morning that she ate Popeye's fried chicken for breakfast. :Q

EDIT: removed repetitive redundancy.

It's all a matter of perspective. Virtually everything can be viewed as racism if you want to nit-pick.

I don't get it. Was the brown cow eating watermelon and fried chicken? What's racist about a cow sounding like a black person? Were the "better" animals voiced by white people?

You know what really bothers me? Those "This is Our Country" Chevy ads that show people working on the farm throughout the years. I'm not usually sensitive to race-related things, but these ads show no minorities, nobody but good old white folk and then Chevy has the nerve to drive the truck under a sign with the ranch's name - The "KK Ranch".

The BROWN cow was the black sounding one, the WHITE cow sounded like a white person. Pay attention before you post.

The first time I saw those ads was during the MLB playoffs a few years back. I thought the "this is our country" line sounded mildly xenophobic given the illegal immigration political issue, but then I saw another GM ad during the same commercial break that was entirely in Spanish.

Yeah, and? So the colors of the animals matched their voices. That isn't racist.

People need to stop crying, because the non-stop whining only makes the problem worse.

What's wrong with that? Who cares? Make your own cartoon.

It's a cartoon, not a life lesson. The only cartoons that should provoke insanity are ones that mock Islam. Everyone knows that.
