Last week I got a Viewsonic A90f+ because my old 19" KDS crapped out and this was within the price range of the service plan I bought on my KDS(Before you rag on me for buying a service plan, it was $18 because I worked at best buy at the time). Anyway, i notice on my monitor a slight but noticable flickering. Esspecially when the screen has a white background. I have it at 1280x1024 @ 75Hz. It doesnt refresh as fast as my KDS, but my KDS was dying. My PSU has been giving me problems recently. The power outputs are low or high and it has been giving me random restarts, but I cant really afford a new one right now so I deal. But could this be the cause of my screen flicker? Also, could the bad PSU be causing lockups when gaming?
thanks,
-doug

Edit: I notice it less at lower res's. But I also see what appear to be faint lines across a lot of the screen. This is really driving me up the wall, what can i do about it?

Edit(#2): Is this monitor already going bad? Should I return it? I have another week.

HOnestly, I noticed the same thing with my A90f+. I think it's one of the most crappy monitors I have ever seen.

Raise your refresh to 80 with either Powerstrip or Rivatuner. If you need help just ask. I have the A90F+ and noticed a bit of flicker at 75 also, but at 80 I notice none. rbloedow, I wouldn't say this is even close to the worst monitor, in fact, it's pretty decent for the $230 you get it for. Granted it's not the top of the line, but with that comes top of the line money:) . I will say though that the refresh could be higher and the geometry a bit better. I took mine back numerous times before I found one I could live with. I also went through three different models in this price range and the A90F+ was the best.

The monitor won't let me pass 75Hz @ this res. Is there a way around this problem?
thanks,

And I thought I was going crazy ! **G**
I also have a ViewSonic A90f (1year old) & run at 1280x1024 @75Hz . At this resolution I cannot go above 75Hz either .

Win 2000 Pro
Athlon T-bird 1.2
Elsa GeForce2 GTS 32mb
512mb Mushkin HP 2100 ddr
2 case fans , 1 hard drive , 1 CD-RW , pci 56k modem & 3.5 floppy .

This flicker is noticed with a Dark grey or black background & it's like having the Brightness turned up a few notches & then back down (real fast & infrequent & never constant) I believe it has nothing to do with the refresh rate .
I did have a 4-5 year old Enermax 350watt PSU go out on me & replaced it with an Antec 350watt (SL350) about 3-4 weeks ago . Started to noticed the flicker after the PSU replacement .

I do have the four year Warranty from Best Buy too . Will they just let you exchange monitors ? Or will I have to wait a month while they send it in , get it back & still have the same problem & repeat this 2 more times before I can get them to exchange it for me ?

Anyone here have any other input ?
