subscription worse than free forums??

I just subscibed 3 days ago, and all 3 days there have been times when i can not get on the subscriptions forums at all, during these down times the free forums were working fine. dosent make sense.

I did not have any problems, except once a day or two ago, since I subscribed on 12/05/01. I don't know if it is always THAT much faster but at least I don't need to look at any banners anymore.

I have this problem 2 or 3 times a day from 5 min to 30 min before i can get on.

I have had the same problem. In fact, it happened to me last night. The server would simply not respond to my page requests.

I have also noticed the subscriber forums getting slower and slower as of late.

Looks like most of the people are using the subscriber server instead of the regular thus making the regular server faster then the subscriber server......... 😛

More than likely any speed problems you are having are a result of your connection or your connection on route to the servers. The server has over 200 on at any given time but it's handling it just fine, we record page times and they are quite fast i.e less than a second. I'd suggest digging into the problem and trying trace routes etc. Note as we announced there was scheduled outage last night and about a week or two ago. We announced it loud and clear on the top of the forum.

I am not have any speed problems at all, when i am on it is fast. but I have had about 3 to 4 times today where I just cant get on at all. I try other websites to see if it my connection they all come right up, I walk in other room to my wife pc and get right on free forums both pcs are on same network. hopes this trouble goes away. I might have something to do with cox they went down tonight and where allmost at a crawl before that, I just dont understand why I can get on free forums and not paid ones.

Next time it happens, run a traceroute and see where the problem is. I haven't had the problem, either from home or from my University account.

Mustang as I said run a tracert subscriber.anandtech.com next time in a command prompt 🙂. You hitting another site has nothing to do with your're route to anandtech. Each site will have a different route almost that uses different networks to get where it's going. Seat of the pants feel is the worst measurement of how fast something is 🙂. Thanks

Zuni, could you provide us with a link to another site hosted by your same host, that way we can pinpoint if it is a route to the host, or on our end..
