Sure, DRM sucks, blah blah blah

I just finished downloading the 100 best jazz albums of all time

Rhapsody to-go is $14/mo. At that rate it'd take me like 8 years to buy all the albums. Even then, I wouldn't have all the other albums I like, not to mention all the music from other genres.

100 best according to whom?

::hugs:: his gene krupa & buddy rich

Okay, I lied - it's actually the most "historically significant recordings" according Aebersold. These are probably the best albums to listen to if you want to improve your own jazz playing skills. The list doesn't have a lot of good albums that weren't as influential. I agree with the fact that Buddy Rich isn't the list since his band never really played anything groundbreaking. That doesn't change the fact he's my second favorite drummer (after Art Blakey) and that I've downloaded every Buddy Rich album already. Blakey had about 5 albums on the list because of his incredible ensembles.

Have fun losing all your music and money when that service shuts down. IMO your just flushing your money down the toilet, but that's just my view.

Are you actually serious? 😕 I don't see how anybody could possibly think it's the same scenario. Your nuts man.

how is renting music and renting cable any different?

if he's paying $10 per cd and then they go out of business and he loses everything, then yeah, i'd agree with you, but he's paying $14 a month to listen to all the music he wants. he's renting it, just like cable tv or satellite radio, only a little better because he gets to choose what gets played.
