In the email notifications of a new post to a subscribed thread, why not link to the _last_ page of the thread instead of the first? After all, that's where the new post is to be found. It's a pain to have to load the first page of a long thread, especially on a dialup connection, before you can go to the page with the new material.

Actually, nope as people can order the messages in ascending or descending order, besides that a user canlist 2 to a page or 40 to page etc.It will stay is it does and link to the thread itself.

Yeah, I was just playing with the customizations and found the descending sort order option. For myself, that will do the trick.

Still, it would make more sense for the link to reference the actual message id that generated the notification, and then go to the page containing it, no matter what the user has set for either the sort order, or the the number of messages per page. If get a notification like:

Zuni has posted a reply to the thread entitled "Subscription Emails".

then it doesn't make much sense to take me to a page in the thread that may not even contain that post.

I don't believe inidividual posts within a thread can be linked to directly any more. Any sort of pointing to the correct page would have to depend on customization + if the person is logged in or not, so it really seems simpler to link to the generic thread.
