Subscribing to threads via e-mail?

Okay, I checked and it was already set to No. I hit the Customize! button, so now if anyone replies here or elsewhere I've posted, I should get it in my email, right?

It should get sent to your email. We'll see I guess.

If you aren't getting email it isn't an anandtech issue... all the subscriptions do is once someone replies it sends an email to whatever email you have in your profile.. Very very very simple..

Cheers.

I still get no emails notifying me of responses to any threads I have posted to. I know how subscriptions work, I'm a regular at Sysopt. I'm going to check the "Subscribe to this topic" box below and then hit the Reply to Topic button, I just wish I didn't have to do that every time.

I'm glad that they do not have it set to automatically subscribe to every topic you post in. I like subscribing only to those ones that I find important.

I tried it earlier and it was no worky, so back to PMs I go. 🙁

AFAIK, it can not be my ISP, because this time I have made sure that spam filtering is disabled (last time this happened, it wasn't related to a FT upgrade but rather to my ISP's installation of a non-user-controllable server-side spam filter :frown: ).

I get no emails when my topics are replied to either. I haven't received one since the upgrade. It worked fine until the upgrade. I haven't changed my email address or my profile.

I receive the emails without a problem, but I miss the old format, where the title of the thread was in the subject line. This made it really easier to go check out particular a thread you're participating in, even if you received updates about several threads. No I have to really pay attention and read each email to determine from which thread it comes from.

Doesn't seem fixed with me, every email has the subject line "Anandtech subscription update", and the title of the thread and the contents of the post is in the body of the email.

Could you check? thanks!

I'm having the same problem. Suddenly, all emails advising me that a thread to which I am subscribed have

Subject: AnandTech subscription update.

That sucks. Isn't there a way to configure things so the subject corresponds with the subject of the subcribed thread? What's more, launching the link (the whole message body is only a link), doesn't even send me to the thread - it's just a single post. What's up?

Well it wouldn't be too bad, given that it's just unsubscribing to a thread, not more than that. Plus, with the current link that's given in the email, it's simple for a malicious person to access the forum and unsubsribe manually. Of course, if you provide an unsubscribe link, it would still require the user to be logged in the forums.

Or do I make no sense?

It is much more complicated than that, loggin in, did you have acess that to that category, who are you etc...

I can spoof email in 2 seconds and be anyone in this forum or anyone in the world for that matter...

For now you can't.

Thanks
