Subscriber Server: WHERE HAVE YOU GONE???

My AT Subscription expired yesterday. Now I'm back to the SLOW server, ads, and 100 PM limit. Talk about major sux0rz!

Although I'm not a subscriber, I too wonder why they won't continue the service. It would seem to me that if they won't make subscription an option, at least the features that existed at the start of the forum would be put in place again. I don't see any differences. The other servers (i.e., forums2, forums3) have also disappeared. Maybe they'll bring back those features with the next upgrade?

I have only a few days left on my sub, which means I can't check in from work on breaks (regular URL is blocked) any more. I will be feeling your pain very shortly.

Maybe they are discontinuing the subscriber server because they make more per year per user by having them view the ads.
I know I've clicked on a few of them since my subscription ran out.

Edit: If they plan to give us full text search and increased pm's I have no problem with this.

Bah I never go to forum issues. I got rid of subscription not because it was expensive, but I still couldn't justify paying more for weak add-on features.

More than 1 person has had luck modifying their hosts file to hardcode the forums address to some random website name, so that might be worth a shot in your case.

I have been AT Subscriber Deprived since 11/2 so I feel your pain!

The "slow free server" has been really exaggerated, this was fixed last year. The speeds are fast, no complaints here.

What I miss:

1000 PM limit ... everyone's PM limit will be increased to 500 eventually.
Ads on the left are ANNOYING. I honestly don't mind the top ads.
Full text searching

But like Eli said you get used to it.

I wish they still had it but only a very small percentage of users signed up for it so it wasn't worth it for them to continue the service.

Thanks for the tip, ViRGE, but I don't take any chances at work. I'd have no excuse if I got nailed for it.

Did you try going though something like this? I use it to get around my schools blocking of atot. Only problem is you cant log in
