well i tried to get on the \non-subscriber forum earlier,and kept getting an error message

I don't know what "posting by IP" is but if you delete the cookies in Internet explorer under tools you can get on the regular forum page and if you post (after logging in) you have to delete the cookies again.. it worked for me (a subscriber). I hope this ain't IP posting...

No, I was browsing to the forums by their IP address http://168.143.107.163. I couldn't login, view PM's, or anything like that, but I could at least read & post. AND I didn't have to delete any cookies each time I posted.

no IP posting is you just type the IP of forums.anandtech.com in the address bar instead of the URL. you can't log in, but you can post by entering name and pass each time

OK. I understand now.. I went by trial and error till I found a way to get on the forum and read then how to post then how to get back on but, your way seems much easier.. 🙂
