Subscribable calendar?

I'm trying to move all of our PTO needs online. One thing I wanted to try to do was to create a calendar of some kind (I use google calendar myself) that I can provide a link for to people who can then subscribe to the calendar if they'd like. I saw with google calendar, you can make a calendar public but I don't necessarily want it to be open to everyone via a google search. Any ideas or suggestions?

use google calendar,
only let people you allow read it via email addresses

1. In the calendar list on the left side of the page, click the down-arrow button next to a calendar, then select Share this calendar.
2. Enter the email address of the person you want to share your calendar with.
3. From the drop-down menu on the right side, select a level of permission, then click Add Person.
4. Click Save.
