My home theatre speakers have poor bass, theoretically could I replace the woofers with car stereo subs? I know I would have to find the crossover range and try to match it, but still is it possible to "upgrade" your speakers like that? And if it is, what 10" 8ohm subs do you guys recommend? I actually do not know who made my speakers, they are polychrome and have 2 mid-range and 2 tweeters each. No brand name is listed anywhere on them. I appreciate any help you guys could give me. Oh can you guys list the frequency range of any subs you recommend?

Remember that a lot of subs require lots of power to produce sound. (not very efficient.) So you may end up with unbalanced sound if you start mixing real subwoofers with normal speakers without some kind of power damping or amplifing.

I do not recommend car subs for a home theater system. Unless of course, you like crappy sounding bass. I think it would be better to get a seperate subwoofer to compliment your existing speakers. Talk to Viperoni...he will point you in the right direction to build a nice sub for cheap.

Well, I use four 15" Tempests in a closet, with a 100 Watt amp, and a 5 band symetrix parametric EQ, but you can certainly get by with less.

They are about the best swept air per dollar I know of.
