OK, I don't get this. I have a Linksys router, blah blah. The Subnet used is 255.255.255.192.
After (almost) every reboot, XP changes the subnet to 255.255.0.0.
It never likes the dhcp setting. Is there a way to allow dhcp but set a static subnet address?

Thx
John

You should be able to leave the TCP/IP settings to dynamic and have the router assign it an IP. When it does, it assigns the IP address to the NICs MAC address and stores it in the routing table.
The reason why your card may be getting lost/reset is because you may have the dhcp server assigning a bad IP address or the lease time is set incorrectly. Once you checked that out, log into your router and remove all the entries in your Routing Table. Then open a command prompt and type 'ipconfig /release' to release the current IP address. Type 'ipconfig /renew' after that to get the router to lease a new one.
