submitting viruses

Red Squirrel

No Lifer
Someone just sent me a virus by email and I submitted the email itself to avira for their analasys.

Now just wondering, should I be submitting this everywhere else, or is there a central place to submit these so all the AVs see it?

Not sure about anywhere to do Virus Submissions for multiple vendors, but www.virustotal.com might be useful for you to find out which vendors already detect your file as a virus. They scan with somewhere around 40 AV Engines.

Interesting site. The file actually is detected by a few, but not a lot.

Really if it was not all about money it would make so much sense if all the AV companies shared their detections as we'd have overall better quality AVs. Of course, this would never happen because they're only in it for the money so they keep it all to themselves.

You have NO idea what your talking about, almost ALL of the major AV vendors share detections.

Next time, if you don't know, don't guess.
