Subaru WRX experiences...

I'm interested in the verdicts from owners, or even just what you thought after driving one.
I'm considering buying one, but I've heard things about 'transmission issues.'
Any WRX 'quirks' I should be aware of? I've never owned a Subaru before, just Ford, Chevy, and Honda (in that order).

I love my wrx. You have heard about the tranny because that is pretty much the weak point of the car as a whole. Not saying its terrible or anything, its just the weak point. So if you like racing a lot, or have upgraded engine, and are launching the car at high rpms you will probably eventually blow it. check out :

Paint isn't really as nice as other manufacturers. Interior has something to be desired, but is acceptable for the car.

I own 2003 wrx for exactly 1 year now and I love it! Tranny issues were with 2002, 2003 had no tranny issues (as far as I understand), 2004 has some running hot issues. Else great car! Fast, reliable and handles better then anything I drove, including the overated BMWs.
