Hi there,
I'm just wondering if a normal Scooby Impreza WRX with 218hp can beat a BMW M3 or a BMW M5. Or which others car can he beat?

Thanx

I don't think it could beat either of those Beamers. And as for which cars can it beat, just about every family sedan or econobox out there (Just don't pull up top the line with me). But Subs aren't about straight line performance (don't pull up to any camaro and think you will win) they are more about being able to toss it about and letting the AWD compensate for poor driving skills.

ok, but a full featured 328hp Impreza, it can beat the BMWs easily, right?

What Jackhammer said. :D

Naw, the Scooby would have no chance against the M3 or M5, then again, its less than half the price of the M3 and less than a third of the M5. The M series cars just have too much power (333hp for M3, close to 400 for the M5).

It would be close with good drives, but I think the m3 would still have the edge for most stoplight races b/c of the turbo you have to launch it like a mofo and AWD just isn't designed for drag racing (my friend has a AWD beamer, man what a slug).

In the wet it would be. Like I said before sccobys are made more for cornering more than blistering power.

The new '01 AWD 330xi's are faster draggin' than their 330i RWD counterparts. The added AWD traction allows the 330xi to pull 0-60 in 5.8 seconds which is more than a few ticks faster than the RWD variant.

OK, I'm talking about the 96/97/98 models of the Imprezas, cuz the new 2001 are more limosouine-like

True, but he has an older one (328?) and the thing is a slug. Absolutley no bottom end.
