Question Sub-woofer Selection For PC

I'm having a hard time coming up with a solution for what I think is a common problem.

For audio I have 2x bookshelf speakers with a receiver. I would like to add a small subwoofer to the mix to cover lower notes. What is a good option to add bass to a small PC workspace? I don't want to add a $99 Polk 10" as everyone on Google suggests. I could deal with a $40 Logitech leftover so I can have something. Anandtech! There has got to be a worthy slim-subwoofer option for my needs. Else, I'm going to Ebay a Logitech sub and see if it works.

Logitech doesn't sell just subwoofers.

If you mean slim and not cheap then a powered 8" sub would save you about 2-3" in each dimension over that Polk 10". There are also some wide but low height 8" options. If you mean slim and cheap then just buy used computer sub off eBay like you proposed.

I have a Paradigm Millenia One sub and it is amazing. It is a true subwoofer, not just a glorified bass module. It is also very compact.

I'm looking to spend no more than $60 for something to do the job. I took a chance on a Logitech sub on Ebay. Turns out it needs the satellites connected or it doesn't work. I wish I knew how to override that...

So your willing to put up with poor build quality and possibly poor sound coming from your sub woofer??

You'd be much happier if you stepped it up and just got a low end SVS or something. SB-1000 would be a good small pc sub to hook to a receiver/amp.

The SVS is at least $300 or even $400 I think. Way too expensive for OP

Look for some used subs on audio mart or ebay. I picked up a used 15" Velodyne CT-150 for $150 and it was like new condition. It is bloody fantastic in audio mode with my Hsu Research HB1 mkII's.
