Sub popping

I recently got a different sub (Dayton SUB-120) and whenever I change sources on my onkyo receiver the sub gives a small 'pop'. I don't remember the old sub doing that, but it was 50 watts less so maybe that has something to do with it?
 
Is the sub's power set to auto? Perhaps it's turning itself off until it detects a signal when you change sources and so it 'pops' back on.
 
I agree with Nohr. My Hsu sub did the same thing with my Rotel processor. It hasn't with my Onkyo though.
