Sub in a truck?

I'm considering trading a guy my boat (buick) for his 88 ranger, but it seems that my sub presents a problem. I've looked quite a bit and haven't been able to find a single 12" box for it, so I suppose that means either measuring and finding another box that fits, or going without. :Q:Q:Q I don't think I want to do that.

Also, security seems like it'll be a pain. In my car, everything but the deck is in the trunk. In the truck, things -- especially the sub -- will be visible from outside. I really don't want to deal with people constantly stealing or trying to steal my crap.

So, is a sub in a truck just a huge headache? And if not, any ideas for a box?

you might be able to fit your sub behind the seats.

That's what I was already talking about. 😉

Where else would you put it?

behind the seats, but you'll need a custom box most likely

Are you guys not reading what I'm saying or something? :Q

Oh yeah, actually I forgot to mention the option of building a box in the OP. That's also a consideration, though I doubt I'd need to. With all of the various small truck boxes out there, I'm sure I could find one that would fit.

The sound quality will take a hit, and it wont sound anywhere near as good as it used to, but it can be done... I had 2 12" subs behind my bench seat in my chevy silverado... got a blazer now and the sound quality is so much better.

? You can't find a already made box, so I said you'll probably have to find a custom box...which means make one yourself.

Well I haven't looked at the truck much (going to check it out tomorrow), but I'm hoping that I indeed can just pick up a pre-made box and stuff it behind the passenger seat. Something like this perhaps.

Iirc Crutchfield carries a truck box... like anything else they carry, though, it probably costs 2 arms & a leg...

Heh, back in college I had a huge dual 10" bandpass sub box in my Toyota extended cab truck. It had been broken into once so I chained that puppy to my seats. I kept a folded towel on top of it so I could cover it up and make it less conspicuous when parked.

A few companies make custom boxes that fit behind the seat in a regular cab or under the rear seat in an extended cab. You won't be able to see either by looking in, so it's not any less secure than a trunk.

Put it in a box behind the seat 😛

Regular. I went and checked it out today, and it looks like a regular ol' truck box should fit behind the passenger's seat just fine. The seat won't be able to go all the way back, but I don't sit over there. 😛

Haven't been here in a while 😉

I had a '91 regular cab and comfortably fit two MTX prebuilt 8" boxes behind the seats and mounted the amp to the back of the seat between them.
