I have a computer in the garage. I haven't started it in days. It's 19 degrees outside right now. The computer was hella loud at startup and then it slowly went away. I assume a fan or something was frozen inside and it caused the noise. It seems fine now that it's all warmed up but is it possible any permanent damage was done? Thanks.

To the fan? Hard to say. I'd be more worried about the hard drive. You sure it wasn't the hard drive?

If it slowly went away, you may want to check that the fan is actually working instead of dead.

It may just have had a little condensation on a blade that unbalanced it. Fans are very, very, delicate to balance.
