Sub and Amp to PC!!!

I just removed my sub and amp from my car because it needs a new engine and I was wondering if there was any way that I could connect that to my PC speakers. It may sound kind of weird but I dont want it just sitting there not being used and since my friend had several subs and amps connected to his stereo system I figure it can be done here too. Thanks!!!

Not exactly highly technical, but.....

You'll need a high amperage DC voltage source. You can get one from Radioshack for $60 (10 amp I believe). Now, run a line-out from your sound card to the line in on the amp. Done.

If your line-out cuts your speaker output off, then you'll need to splice a wire from the speaker out of the sound card to the speaker IN on your amp. If your amp does not have a speaker in, you may be out of luck in this case.

Some sound cards have a .1 channel - if yours does that is the "line out" to go to the subwoofer.

I used an old computer power supply to power an old Pioneer head unit. I just used the speaker outs and hooked up a couple 6x9s. It was kind of cool. I sold the headunit, but forgot to take out a Tupac CD. Damn it. 😀
