Hey folks,

What kind of laptops can be had today for ~ 500$?

I would like to get a fully functional laptop and I thought there were discount laptops for sale very cheap but I can no longer find them.

What gives?

A used one. That, and you missed the after rebate ones on black friday that were like 2ghz celeron, 40gb, 128 mb ddr and stuff.

I'd say you can get at least a 1ghz with 20gb's.

You think a used one is my best bet? Used through someone like Dell or used through my next door neighbor?

Well, Dell laptops start at like 700 bucks after rebate unless you can find a better deal like here

Our For/Sale forum has some too like this one EDIT: Which still has dell warranty.

a While ago i picked up an old Sony vaio pIII for about $300 on the FS/FT forum. You should be able to get a decent lappy for $500. I would avoid the celeron line if possible since its a LOT slowwer than an Athlon or a p4 at the same MHZ rating.
