I replaced my dad's galaxy nexus with a very low end Lenovo phone that had pretty meh specs, but a great sized (5.5") screen. He loved the size but hated the pic quality and the confused skin it. I then got him a moto g and thAts going back too because it felt like a step back from his galaxy nexus and the pic quality was still meh. If I want to stick to new / refurb what's the beSt tmobile or unlocked phablet I can get with p&s replacing camera?

Well, I really can't speak much for cameras, because I think the camera on my Nexus 5 is fine and people generally say it's not very good. So obviously my camera opinion means squat. :)

However regarding affordable phablets. The hot one to look at would be the OnePlus One. It's a 5.5 inch phone with great specs and a 13MP camera and compatible on T-Mobile and AT&T. Unfortunately you can't buy it yet. It's been out for a few months through an invite system. Rumors say it should go on sale to the public soon. Costs only $350 for a 64GB model.

On eBay I see the refurbished Galaxy Note 3 available for around $350-$400. This is what I have and I really like this phone.

Put your name on the OPO invite spreadsheet (see other thread) if you want new.

So I went over to my dad's place and he was pretty much in a rush (no phone, at all - his won't charge) - after reading reviews we went with the galaxy mega 6.3. Huge screen, the 720p screen won't bug him too much because he's in his late 70s and his eyesight's not all that great, and the camera quality seemed good enough.

The sony xperia z ultra was very tempting, but the photo samples looked dreadful.
