I can't find any major differences between these two lap top cores other than cash memory. I think the SU7300 has 3MB cash and the SU4100 has a 2MB cash. Is this enough difference to worry about?

Well, the SU7300 supports Intel VT, but that's likely something you won't need since you didn't even mention it.

What do you plan to do on your laptop? And what's the price difference between the two products you are looking at that offers those processors? None of those processors are exactly blazing fast, but if the price difference is insignificant, I'd go for the SU7300.

Well Newegg seems to have more of the SU4100 units than anything else so it is a question of availability. What does Intel VT get you. I don't plan on doing anything too CPU intensive on it. I will most likely run Office 2003, Photoshop, IE XX, Maybe Zune Player. I will probably play movies on it some. Stuff that runs fine on a P4 machine.

VT = Virtualization Technology. Don't need it.

Then it all boils down to the price difference. Find a unit you like with the SU4100, then find another unit you like with the SU7300. Just go with the cheaper notebook of the two.

I am looking at the Acer Timeline series laptops. Another good thing is that I can always load XP pro if I have too many problems with Win 7. Acer has XP drivers. I am having problems locating replacement batteries.

Pretty good choice. The processors you mentioned won't have a significant difference that would make you wish you chose the other. So my recommendation remains the same, get one unit of each that you like (perhaps two identical Acer Timeline series that are identical almost 100% except for the processor) then just get the cheaper one. Of course, if the rest of the specs do remain identical (but that's unlikely) then you will end up with the SU4100.

I am having problems locating replacement batteries.
I can't help you there, but replacement batteries are always a problem. Several shops I know of offer services to repack batteries, but they aren't cheap, the cost is >50% of a new battery. Perhaps you can find similar services near you.
