Stuttering in Vista and Low 3DMark01 Scores

Just a quick listing of my 3DMark scores using same hardware different OS/Vid Cards.

Athlon X2 3800+ @ 2.5Ghz
2GB Mushkin Redline Ram
DFI Lanparty Nforce4 Board (Not SLI if that makes a difference)

Connect3D X800 GTO on XP OC'd to 530/500 (IIRC):
3DMark01: 26341
3DMark03: 12398
3DMark06: 1942

Gigabyte 8800GTS on Vista 32Bit:
3DMark01: 20011-24958 (Ran about 5 times since i didn't believe what I saw.)
3DMark03: 24274
3DMark06: 7316

Friend tried the card in his system and his 3DMark01 score went up about 9000 points. I'm experiencing stuttering at 1440x900 (19" widescreen LCD and I used whatever settings were auto-detected) in CS:Source/TF2 (Drops from 80-100 down to 15-20), WoW (60 to 15), and Company of Heroes but not experiencing it in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. FWIW, i have had stuttering in WoW with my old card at higher internal temps due to my chipset fan stopping to work, so i replaced the chipset cooler with the DFI recomended one, however, the CS:S problems are new. I have also reinstalled chipset and video drivers after using Driver Sweeper, and I also set my BIOS to default and scores were similar in 3DMark01, around 21000. I am using the newest Nvidia Drivers and they are the only drvers I have tried so far with my new card.

Any ideas on these problems?

I'll go out on a limb here and say that it has something to do with the fact that 3dMark01 was designed for Windows 2000 running DirectX 8.1.

There is a reason it's not even available for download on Futuremark's site anymore.
